standalone adding radios as lead developer climbs Everest

Hi, I recently built a new pc, and after finally ironing out most of the problems thus far, there's only 2 sol republic (one of which won't really fit here so I'll post it elsewhere) problems that are really standing out.

Basically, I made the mistake of trying Windows 8 Professional, and while most of the compatibility issues I've gotten though myself so far, My Headset is giving me trouble, basically, It works fine for sound on websites and dashboard apps, but when running apps like games or voice communication programs, I get nothing popsolrepublic.com but silence until I close the application (but oddly enough, closing it in itself will give me sound), so, I tried updating to the latest 1.1.1 drivers for Windows 8 to see if it would fix anything.

However, one problem was it wouldn't run unless I set compatibility mode to Windows 7, I did this, yet, twice in a row trying 2 different file downloads, It updates to an older version. (1.00.0007) and I assume as a result, my no sound issue still isn't fixed.

I don't know if it's actually the headset drivers installing a dated version, windows 8 being poorly designed as usual, or both, but, if there's anyway to at least get my drivers updated to the proper version I'd appreciate knowing how.
